Hello Sugarfoots!
Autumn has finally arrived and with it some marvelous movies...yay, at last-- enough of the light summer fare... and I'm only going to tell you about the movies I love -- if you want to go see a blah movie or read about one...you're on your own...
So far my faves are:
"3:10 to Yuma" -- a yummy western with Russell Crowe and Christian Bale -- yee-haw! Russell plays the villain so charmingly and Christian Bale is so disarmingly gorgeous...**sigh**
"Lars & the Real Girl" - a beautiful human tale of an awkwardly-social guy played by the uber-talented Ryan Gosling who works out his issues with a lifesize doll (Bianca -- in a very subtle performance) -- great supporting cast includes Emily Mortimer and Patricia Clarkson - two of my fave gals who always deliver the goods!
"Eastern Promises" - a deliciously twisted tale of the Russian mob starring Mr. Renaissance Man himself Viggo Mortensen and directed by the ever-cool David Cronenberg
And my absolute favorite so far...
"Into the Wild" -- a freakin' masterpiece based on the Chris McCandless story and masterfully directed by Sean Penn (and yeah, I sat thru the entire 2 hour 20 minutes and some change and loved it all!) starring Emile Hirsch who has the chops like you wouldn't believe!
